Washington BID honors its best

WASHINGTON -- BASF was named the 2007 Business of the Year and Danielle Dupuis, president of Century Wire Products Corporation, was named the Business Person of the Year by the Washington Borough Business Improvement District at its annual Business Awards Reception held on Feb. 27.
BASF, Dupuis and five other award-winners were also honored at the third annual Washington BID Business Awards Reception at the Mediterranean Bistro.
In addition to BASF and Dupuis, Muheisen Bagel & Deli on Route 31 was honored as the New Business of the Year, Mark Mulligan was cited with the Redevelopment Award for his work on the old town hall, 37 Belvidere Ave., and Arctic Foods, which recently opened up an expanded market at its E. Washington Avenue store, received the Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Also, Candle Artisans and DeVoe Funeral Home were given Special Recognition Awards for their contributions to the business community at-large.
BASF's Washington site employs about 70 people and produces surfactants used in consumer and industrial laundry and cleaning products, healthcare products, coatings, and plastic additives. BASF is also very active in community projects and events, and has been the major sponsor of the Festival in the Borough for the past three years.
Century Wire's Dupuis was recently presented with the Private Enterprise Award from; ACCSES New Jersey, formerly the New Jersey Association of Rehabilitation Facilities, for her outstanding commitment in providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities and for her time and dedication to Abilities of Northwest Jersey and its supported employment division, Employment Pathways.
Dupuis is on the Abilities board of directors; has chaired some of the agency's major fundraising efforts; and is a strong advocate of Abilities Business Services. ACCSES New Jersey is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing leadership and support to members who advocate to more than 16,000 adults with significant disabilities.
Century Wire Productions Corporation is a global supplier of stainless steel lashing wire, single end and messenger strand for cable television, telecom and industrial markets.
"These businesses and business people were honored for their contributions to Washington Borough's business community," said James Sheldon, executive director of the Washington Borough Business Improvement District. Sheldon noted that the honorees, along with many others, were nominated by fellow district members.

Century Wire Products has been recognized by Employment Pathways; a division of Abilities of Northwest Jersey; as Employer of the Year for 2001.
A Citation issued by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey further commends Century Wire Products for it’s commitment to hiring individuals with disabilities.
